Your Plan coverage begins on the first day of the second calendar month after you have worked 200 hours in Covered Employment in a two-consecutive-month period during which your Employer contributed to the Fund on your behalf (except as provided below).
Covered Employment is defined as work for which a contributing Employer is required to make contributions on your behalf to this Welfare Fund under the terms of a collective bargaining agreement with Sheet Metal Workers’ Local 73.
Notwithstanding any language to the contrary in this SPD, you will be credited with the number of hours actually reported by a contributing Employer for up to two consecutive calendar months even if the contributing Employer fails to make the required contributions on your behalf for those months.
Example: Your Plan Eligibility
John begins working on March 1, 2014 and works steadily through April 2014, accumulating more than 200 hours by the end of April 2014. John is eligible for coverage under the Plan on June 1, 2014.
