The Pension Fund is a trust fund set up to provide retirement benefits
to employees working under
the jurisdiction of the Sheet Metal Workers International Association,
Local No. 73.
There is no compulsory retirement age under this Plan.
The Pension Plan provides several types of monthly pensions for
Sheet Metal Workers who retire from covered
employment. They are:
A Regular Pension
An Early Retirement Pension
A Deferred Pension
A Disability Pension
A Rule of 95 Pension
A Pro-Rata (Reciprocal) Pension
The monthly pension amount payable is based on the benefit accrual
rate in effect when an employee separates from covered employment,
the number of full pension
credits and Special
Service Credits earned by an employee and the type of pension.
The Plan also provides a Level Income (Social Security) Option
and a Partial Lump Sum Option
Post-retirement survivor benefits
In certain instances, survivor benefits may also be payable if an
employee dies before retirement.
All pension benefits from the Plan are in addition to any amounts
that a retired employee may receive under the Social Security Law
or any other retirement benefit plan.
An appeal procedure is provided for a person who seeks review of
their benefits.
