The Sheet Metal Workers' Local 73 Welfare, Pension and Annuity Funds are located in Hillside, Illinois. The Welfare Fund provides comprehensive medical and dental benefits to over 11,000 active and retired members, spouses and dependent children. For the period of July 1, 2011 through June 30, 2012 the Welfare Fund paid approximately $41 million in benefits. As of June 30, 2012 the Pension Fund provided approximately 2,900 retirees and beneficiaries with a monthly pension benefit. In addition, there are approximately 2,200 individuals actively contributing to the Plan. The Pension Fund pays approximately $2.8 million in benefits each month to retirees and beneficiaries as a means of providing them with the financial security that is needed for their retirement. The Annuity Fund is designed to supplement a participant's pension benefit by allowing the participant to self-direct their annuity contributions into investment alternatives of their own choosing. As of May 31, 2012 the Annuity Fund had approximately 3,200 participants with account balances of over $183 million.
